Businesses & Organisations

Since we aim to achieve systemic change, shifting the culture and thinking within institutions is essential.

“When you find yourself on the side of the majority, you should pause and reflect.”

Mark Twain

In an age when businesses and organisation are becoming increasingly aware of their obligations around equality and diversity, we set out to ensure intellectual and developmental disabilities are not missed in this consideration.

So much of the training that is provided to staff teams today, regardless of the industry, seems to be delivered via e-learning, or dry and one-dimensional classroom sessions. All too often there is no effort put in to offering something which uses more exciting and engaging means to enhance the critical thinking in those a company employs. Our more cynical side would say, perhaps giving the workforce too much space to reflects equips them to become too aware of what is not right and fair? But, maybe it’s just that there does not seem to be the understanding of how to talk about subjects like disability. Well thankfully, OneConversation does the thinking outside of the box for you on this… well initially at least anyway.

Similar to the rest of the work we do, the offering we have for businesses and organisations consists of sessions of intimated interactions with our activists. Generally, the OneConversation team would begin a session by introducing themselves and what we are doing, before they split the room into to smaller groups. The groups are led by one or two of the OneConversation activists, who stimulate candid and provocative conversation, while also giving the group to ask them anything about their disability. The activist rotate through the groups, which offers a rather beautiful experience of neurodiversity.

If you or your organisation would like to know more about having us do some sessions with you, please have a look through our brochure and then sign yourselves up!
